Sister, Sister

Back in the fall, I went to Hancock Fabrics and saw a wonderful corduroy fabric that I knew Madisyn would love. It was brown with pink horses all over it. Being the tightwad I am, I waited for it to go on sale. And waited and waited. Finally a sales flyer came with 40% off coupon. So I headed to Searcy. They were sold out. I wasn't deterred, I could go to Jonesboro. They were sold out. There's always Memphis, I thought. Sold out! I couldn't believe it. I ended up ordering on-line and paying regular price. :-( Madisyn wanted one for her little sister as well, so I made matching outfits. Mary Claire actually has two. The one pictured and one a little bigger so she could match Madisyn all winter.

Madisyn loves her horse jumper and Mary Claire love her big sister so everyone is happy. :-)

Welcome Daniel and Lydia

Today my former {not old :)} college roomate had TWINS!

Daniel and Lydia arrived this morning and we're super excited for this family of 9. Amy's mom wonders if something was in the plumbing in that apartment. LOL

The kids and I loaded up the storms and barely beat the rain. Congratulations, we can't wait to see more pictures.

Welcome Baby ClaraBeth!

Baby ClaraBeth was due any day before we left. So we had a few projects to finish up. Madisyn and I decided to make a hospital door/welcome home wreath. I have seen the feather boa wreaths and while they are adorable, I wanted something a little different.

Hello Tulle!
I love the way this turned out! ClaraBeth has no choice but to be an Arkansas Razorback fan (Dad's nearly an alumni - just a few months left!) and I thought when the baby stat ribbons were removed it would be a perfect game day decoration. We finished it just in time as ClaraBeth arrived a few days early the day before we left.

(the lighting is a little off - it was more Razorback red than it looks here)

The Eagle Has Landed

The kids and I made a flying trip to Conway on Monday to put this guy in his new home.

Yes, that's really what he weighed and Yes!, this is my "little" sister's child. We all thought Raegen was big at 9 lbs but it's obvious Lynden has no intentions of being the 'little brother' for long! LOL

{As a side note. One day fairly soon after Robin and Billy married I saw a plate hanging on their wall. It had Billy's birth stats. If I remember correctly he weighed 10 lbs something at birth. I asked Robin if she knew he was so big at birth when she married him. Birth weight alone seemed like reason to stop dating him, but alas it was too late! HA! }

Playing Dress Up

I so miss Madisyn being a tiny little girl. I'm very grateful to get to "dress up" my niece, Izzy.

Kristen likes zebra print and when I saw this ribbon I HAD to make a dress for Izzy.

And every girl knows the importance of accessories. ;)

I have other pillowcase dresses here.

Kristen found a zebra shirt to put under it and Izzy is "Sew Darlin' ".

Hooded Towels for Lynden and Raegen

Lynden's expected delivery date is drawing near so it's time for matching/coordinating items for the new baby brother. I can't wait to see both Lynden and Raegen all wrapped up.
I made the boys hooded towels that can pull double duty this summer at the beach or pool.
You can see more of the hooded towels I've made here.Posted by Picasa

Hooded Towels

A couple of weeks ago a client contacted me about making a hooded towel. Her son had a hooded towel that he absolutely loved. Jessica took measurements and pictures and sent the info on to me. Wade loves trains so it seemed fitting to embellish the towel with and engine.

I made a few improvements over the first one. Jessica is getting a new nephew in a few weeks, so towel #2 is for him.

The towel works well for babies through pre-schoolers.

Sew Darlin' Holiday Edition

I was a busy girl for Christmas this year. The two burp clothes are older things that I never blogged about but all the creations below (plus matching pjs and more!) were Christmas gifts.

I heart pillowcase dresses! If we have another baby and she's a girl, I can't imagine she'll wear anything else. :D I love how it's a dress this year and a top next. There are so many things you can do to dress them up or down. I have seen a picture of Izzy in the gingerbread dress
(and she was adorable of course!) but I can hardly wait to see the tractor dress on.

I purchased the quilt top and patchwork backing and put them together as part of Henry's gifts this year. I was really pleased with how it turned out but gathering the border was HARD. I don't think I'll attempt another any time soon.

Madisyn's hair bow to go with her Gingerbread dress.

A bag for Madisyn's piano teacher Mrs. Sue.

All Aboard!!

Little Logan arrived around the same time as Izzy and his aunt asked me to fix him up with some burp cloths. Logan's daddy works for the railroad so I was able to try out a new design.

Brother/ Sister Set

One of the ladies that I spent half the night with while waiting to meet Pioneer Woman, contacted me about making a set of clothes for her three kiddos. Baby #4 isn't expected to make an appearance until after Thanksgiving so we left him out - this time. :)

Jess has two boys and then a little princess.

I can't wait to see them all dressed up on the big day.

The shirts were a labor of love. I think counting the applique outline and tack downs I had over 40 thread changes! I never dreamed it was so intricate (but I would have known it if I had given it a little more thought - lesson learned).

I hope your kiddos enjoy wearing their new duds as much as I enjoyed making them.

Feeling Crafty

The machine has been a humming and the designs are looking great!

I love this little turkey shirt. It had TWELVE pieces of material. This is one of two I'm making for some brothers (their sister is also getting this the turkey dress). Won't they be the coolest kids around?!?

I still have a little time to get your child(ren) outfitted. Contact me if you're interested in dressing up your own turkey.

I've realized resistance is futile. Christmas is coming (last I heard it's about SEVEN - yes 7 - weeks away!). So I set to work on a fesitive dress for my little gingersnap.

I can do this on solid material and I think it will show up better. Madisyn chose this fabric and I do actually try to let her help pick her own clothing. :)

My mom recently had a birthday - I think she's 30, not really sure how that's possible since I just turned 30, but that's how old she looks so we're going with it. :)

Monogrammed towels are always a nice touch, don't ya think?

And of course, little Izzy couldn't be left out. Try hard as I might, the machine seems to just make things for her.

Be sure to check out my on-line album for other designs and prices.
