Hands on Fun

Recently, a regional Homeschool Convention was held in Memphis. We attended and met up with some online friends.

After the convention we invited one family to join us at the children's museum.

We spent the entire afternoon checking out all the exhibits. It was Henry's first visit "loose" so he made the most of it.

My boys, as well as, the S boys needed new shirts after visiting the Mississippi river.

What good is a water exhibit if you don't get a little {ok - A LOT!} wet? LOL

We also hit the mini Kroger. The kids LOVE this exhibit.

Just like adults - meeting in WalMart to catch up. ;-)

What's not to love - little shopping carts, plenty of stock, registers that print receipts!

The excitement was just a little too much for Mary Claire. She finds the museum to be a perfect place for a nap.

We also visited the dress up room. The exhibit has a green stage with a video camera. The camera is linked to a rotating video with various scenes.

Ty frequently wears a John Deere shirt which makes parts of his body "disappear". LOL

K loved that dress and it was perfect for twirling and dancing. I'm not quite sure what look Henry was going for here?!?!

10 kiddos and most of them looking. I think it's a great shot! Thanks for joining us, we hope to meet up with you again!

Turning Ten

We decided a few years ago to have small, family type birthday parties for most of the kids' birthday parties. The exception would be when they turn 1, 5 and 10 (we will probably do 13, 15, 16 or 18 but haven't decided for sure). Turning 1 will still be a smaller affair but we'll decorate, invite a few friends etc. Turning 10 is exciting!

Even with me trying to convince her otherwise, Madisyn insisted that she was indeed 10 and she has been looking forward to a party for at least 3 years! We settled on a cowgirl theme and fixed things up in pink and brown.

Her birthday was on a Sunday this year so on Saturday afternoon we had about 35 people over to eat burgers, be-dazzle horseshoes, make horsey sun visors, play pin the tail on the horse, join in some games of pitching horseshoes and eat three different kinds of cake!

Madisyn even helped make the cupcake toppers. She loved having a project to share.

We had kiddos ranging from 2 months to 29!

The girls had a great time decorating the horseshoes and Madisyn enjoyed doing something "girly".

The boys tended to do the more manly activities of driving the tractors and car.

The big "kids" did let the smaller ones throw a few horseshoes. ;-)

My birthday girl with her cake. I still don't believe she can possibly be TEN!

She had a great time opening gifts and is very thankful for all the gifts she received.

We ended the evening by busting the pinata.

So I could send everyone home on a sugar high!

I'm incredibly thankful that God blessed me with such a wonderful daughter. She is truly my right hand. Her brothers and sister adore her and she is always willing to help. What a blessing Madisyn is!

Happy Birthday, Madisyn!

I can't believe my baby is 10! Where does the time go? It seems like I blinked and she went from being the little girl being held in this photo to the one doing the holding.

Madisyn is such a blessing to our family. She is my right hand girl. I miss her so when she's gone for any amount of time. She's fun to talk to {and she definitely has the gift of gab}, a hard worker, sweet, loving, kind, creative, responsible, smart, funny, compassionate, and beautiful. Her brothers are lost without her help and her sister adores her. She loves the Lord and she loves his people. What more could I ask for?

I truly can't believe she is already 10 years old. Where is the pause button for life?

Happy Birthday, Madisyn! We love you very much!

Birthday party pics to come.

Mary Claire you are FOUR months old - updated with pictures

and Mommy's computer is broken.

This post will be added to later but for now the basics -

You weigh 12 lbs 3 oz.

You are 23.5 inches long.

Your head is 41 cm.

You wear preemie prefolds in XS covers.

You wear 0-3 month clothes though Mommy broke out a few spring outfits in 3-6 month.

You wear a size 1 shoe.

You try to sit up from a reclined position in your car seat, swing, or bouncer. No leaning back for you if someone is holding you!

You move around like a reverse inch worm. You arch your back and scoot instead of moving on your belly.

{Evidence of the back scooting!}

You finally decided the Moses basket isn't evil and have started the night off sleeping in it all week.

You are a very smiley and sweet little girl.

You are growing so much! I can't believe how much you have changed in just 4 short months!
