Sew Cute

I have been wanting to make Madisyn and I a mother/daughter outfit. Madisyn was over the moon at the idea. I saw an overall jumper and thought it would be perfect. I didn't expect it to take so long to find overalls in the correct sizes and then face the job of finding the perfect material for the skirt. I finally assembled the materials and my jumper looks terrible!!!! It is too big and makes me appear to be at least 50 lbs (if not more!) heavier than I am so back to the drawing board. I'm thinking of turning mine into a skirt.

Madisyn really likes hers and we got a lot of compliments on it when she wore it to church. I plan to be on the look out for more overalls for future projects.

Taking a trip

Kent purchased a new (to us) truck on eBay. The only problem - it was in Tallahassee FL and we aren't. He found a really good deal on plane tickets so we flew to FL and picked it up. The going away party.

The plane tickets weren't such a great deal that all six of us could go so Kent's mom kept the kiddos while we had a child-free 24 hours.

The plan was for Vicki to come to our house at 6:00 am and all the kids stay in bed. Griffin had a rough night and ended up sleeping with us. When we got up at 5:30, so did he. He then ran through the house screaming "It's time to get up!" and turned on all the lights. We were able to get Ben to go back to sleep but everyone else settled for a movie fest in Mommy and Daddy's room.

Here we are at the airport. I have to admit I was very nervous to fly. Something about going through security made me ill. I really did think I was going to be sick. Oh, and check out my new purse - Isn't it cute!!! I don't know when the last time I bought a truly new purse was but I like it.

Once we were in the air I was fine. I was thankful to touch down though.

I was very surprised at how small our plane was, babycakes ;) . I know that they can be smaller but I have only every flown on a 747 (in highschool before all the 9/11 stuff). When we landed in Charlotte we had to walk to the terminal in the rain. Our flights were delayed all day and we arrived in Tallahassee almost 2 hours late. We picked up the truck and headed home.

We stayed in a hotel in Troy, AL. It was nice to just have a small bag for an overnight trip instead of the usual loads of things we bring (pack and play, suitcase for the kids, extra diapers, extra clothes for the kids, etc)

Sorry about the sideways picture. I have no photo editing software on this computer and this camera doesn't turn them automatically like my old one did.

Library Card

Since school started we have been making trip to the library every two weeks. Madisyn wanted her own library card. I agreed and she filled out the entire form herself.
The main requirement for a library card is the ability to sign your own name. Madisyn did that and checked out her first books. (about horses, of course)

Ben wanted in on the action.
Madisyn with her first real card to carry in her wallet (or actually Mommy's ;) ).

Pyramid building

This week we are studying the Egyptian Pyramids. After our overview this morning the kids began building lego pyramids.

Cowboy Up!

One of the most important aspects of being a good cowboy is looking the part.

I think Ben has potential.

Horsin' Around

As I mentioned before Madisyn didn't go with us to Idabel. She wanted to stay behind and practice her riding. The last horse show was in Wynne this week so she participated. Uncle Phillip and Madisyn getting ready to ride.

Getting words of advice from her coach.

Madisyn completed the barrel and pole pattern correctly. YEA Madisyn!!!!!

and the crowd goes wild . . . . or at least was paying attention. ;)

Increase / Decrease Stitches

I wanted to learn how to increase and decrease stitches while knitting. I began the red cloth and ran out of yarn. I spliced another skein of yarn and it turned out the red isn't the same shade. I don't think the dishes will mind. ;)

I'm making the 2nd cloth a little larger to try as a wash cloth. It seems I am always running out of wash cloths before I am ready to wash towels.

Finished Project

I finished my 2nd barn dishcloth. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
Since I still had miles to go I started another. I don't think I'm out of the beginner stage yet but I wanted something with more than knit and purl stitches. The pattern is found all over the net under names such as "simple dishcloth", "The Idiot's dishcloth" and "beginner dishcloth". I think I could also call it my I-30 dishcloth as I started it around Arkadelphia and reached 1/2 way in Little Rock. I am at the halfway point and after increases stitches I had to get back on line to figure out how to decrease. Somehow my little break turned into a lot more as I started updating the blog.

Bad Hair Day

Ben had a bit of a bad hair day after being in the pool. Ty and Griffin got showers first, while Ben waited his turn. While waiting his hair dried and I photographed the "do" just to show that Raegen is not the only King of Cowlicks. ;)

Little Fish

While in Idabel we were able to hit the pool.

Griffin has no fear, he will jump in and go completely under. He loves it!

We sat Ben on the side (away from the edge of the pool) and he took off. He crawled across the textured (but not rough) concrete until he reached the chaise lounge.

Ty does a great job with his kicking while holding a floatie. He doesn't have any interest in jumping in the pool or being thrown from Mommy to Daddy.
