No Greater Joy

E

A few months ago, Griffin came to Kent and said he wanted to be saved. Kent spent the next several weeks questioning Griffin to make sure he fully understood what being saved meant.

When our older two children came to us with the same thoughts, we also asked them lots of questions. The last thing we want to do is have a child that is unsure of their salvation.

Kent and I know lot of adults that professed Christ at a young age and seem to have not fully understood what that meant exactly. It tends to leads to adults who are unsure and unsteady in their faith.

After his countless sessions we felt Griffin was ready. He went before the church and asked to be baptized and become a member. Of course, he was quickly accepted. One of the men of the church made the motion and Ty seconded it. I thought that was pretty special to have your older brother be such a big part of your church membership.

Another special part of Griffin's baptism is that Kent gets to be the one to baptize him. Any baptism is special but this momma tears up seeing a father baptize his son. Our  children are incredibly blessed to attend church with several family members and church members who are like family.

I have no great joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth.

Simple Sunday

There are so many things in life that happen and we never capture with camera. These everyday things are the events we will look back on with fond memories. Last week I decided to take my camera to church to record some of these everyday happenings. Mrs. Janet looked like the Pied Piper of babies when I left to get the camera. When I came back only two remained but this is a frequent happening between Sunday School and preaching. The little ones rush over to see Mrs. Janet.

This particular Sunday had a potluck meal following service. I only took pictures of the kids because for some reason the adults don't seem to like it if I take their picture when they are eating. ;-)

These big ole boys always sit at this table left over from Sunday School class days. {Children stay with their parents in one class now.} I guess they like the privacy, I know that I overheard at least one Scooby Doo conversation.

The other end of  the fellowship hall was Baby Grand Central Station. Mrs. Lisa always has kids with her! There is no telling how many children have received Christ due to Mrs. Lisa's involvement in their lives. Related or not, if you know Mrs. Lisa you will be coming to church with her one Sunday ...soon!

While the adults cleaned up, the party moved back to the auditorium. We aren't a very big congregation but we have a lot of kids. In fact, the under 18s outnumber the adults quite often. Right now, most of our littles are girls. I love boys but these little girls are so sweet. For the most part they play nicely and act like little ladies. The boys were probably outside climbing a tree!

Money DOES grow on trees

if you know the right people.
A few weeks ago the folks at Lakeview were able to have a reception for Scott and Hannah. For most of the church it was the first opportunity to meet Hannah and we always enjoy having Scott around.

We moved our regularly scheduled potluck so we could share it with the happy couple.

Since they had already had other showers, we opted to give a money tree. What newlywed doesn't need some extra cash (what married couple period couldn't use some! LOL )

It was really nice to spend the day with Scott and Hannah and we look forward to many more opportunities. :)

Our Church

(Take # 980847092375 - this was the last picture and the best. Don't you love the look on Griffin's face! LOL)

A dear sweet lady from our church recently moved to be closer to her children. We all miss her greatly, and knew that she missed us as well. I wanted to give her something to remember us by so I gathered up families for several weeks and took their pictures. I also grabbed a few candid shots. I then put these all in a scrapbook and gave it to her at Uncle Scott's Wedding (more on that later). Unfortunately, I didn't get pics of the scrapbook but here is a couple of the shots that were included.

(A few of the kids after church. Swinging around that pole has been done since the church was built.)

(The men in the foyer catching up. I didn't get a good shot of the ladies.)

Work day at church 4/18

About two years ago the ladies restroom at church got an overhaul. We were finally ready to tackle the men's room. Since there are four small children in our family, we aren't really able to help with the real construction. I volunteered to paint and of course, Madisyn, Ty, Griffin and Ben joined in the fun.

Ben hung out in his jumperoo for quite some time. Then nap time hit, and the below is proof that he really can sleep anywhere. He is in the nursery floor and about 10 feet from the action. Nana was using a hammer to set nails and he didn't flinch. In fact, he woke up when things got quite.

Madisyn, Ty, and Griffin found the leftovers supplies in an unused classroom and set to work. I'm not sure how many projects were created but I do know that Nana and Miss. Janet went home with several "treasures".

The restrooms were resized so new doors were added. Nana used a classroom as a workshop to cut trim.
