4-H O'Rama

Last week the kids were able to participate in the 4-H O'Rama. The event started with a gun safety test and a fish identification test. After those, we moved outside.

It was our first time to participate (it has always been too close to an auction) and we really didn't know what to expect. Mrs. Jennifer was nice enough to let Mary Claire ride a bike while the other kids competed in their events.

They started off with target practice with a BB gun. It think it would be safe to say they get their shooting skills from their Momma. I think some practice may be in order before next year. ;-)

They also had bait casting. A weight was placed on the end of a fishing line and the kids tried to hit a target.

Henry isn't old enough to participate in 4-H events but I was thankful we brought his bike. He had a great time riding all over the courthouse lawn.

Ben was having a rough day. While playing outside before we left, he got a piece of bark, or seed in his eye. Mommy and Daddy weren't able to remove it and he required a trip to the eye doctor. He was so upset he might miss the O'Rama. The sunlight bothered him but otherwise, he handled it extremely well.

The last event was bicycle riding. The kids had to weave in and out of the cones. The smaller kids seemed to be able to do it better than the bigger kids (smaller bikes vs bigger bikes, maybe?). Ty has already requested that we take his bike next year and Ben had to have help getting on but he did great!

We are really enjoying 4-H this year. We've been able to do so much more than we could in the past.

A long day of riding bikes and no naps makes for a very tired Henry. He walked in the house and collapsed.
